The department of English organized a workshop on “Career Opportunities in U.S.A.” on January 14, 2012. An eminent scholar and the staff member of the Department of English Sangita T. Ghodake enlightened the students. She elaborated on the topic “Career Opportunities in U.S.A.”
The world has become a Glocal village and boundaries of the nation are blurring due to multicultural contacts and job opportunities abroad. The students from low economic strata and rural background are not very fond of using internet. The teachers decided to create awareness about the opportunities abroad. Some of the schemes introduced by the government in collaboration with U.S.A were put forth through PPT. One of the very well known schemes is “Fulbright-Nehru Fellowships and other Opportunities in the U.S. A.” The presentation covered up the mission and the vision of such programmes. Fellowship for Researchers, Students and Mid-Career Professionals were also taken into consideration and the students were made aware of the procedure from writing an application to the process of selection. It was deliberately pinpointed to the students that the age limit for most of the schemes is thirty and for some it is up to fourty-five. It is a high time to the students to take a lip into it and to conquer the world. Most of the students got inspired and decided to find out more information on Net.
The students from the department of English, Hindi, Marathi and Psychology were present. Dr. Savita Singh, HOD Hindi, Prof. Swami, Dept. of Psychology, Prof. Shilpagauri Ganpule, Namrata Alhat and Rupal Waghmare from the Dept. of English were also present. The introductory speech was delivered by Dr. Ganpule and Prof. Alhat offered a vote of thanks.
